It’s been a while. Life‘s kept me busy and I haven’t had time to write. But with the most important election of our lifetime less than two weeks away, I can’t help but wonder:
Despite everything we know about Donald Trump, why would someone STILL vote for him? I’m struggling to understand.
I’m struggling to understand how anyone can vote for a person who cares so little about our country and its citizenry, while caring only for himself and what he might gain from the presidency.
I’m speaking to all of you, but especially to the good people of Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada.
First, some things to consider when casting your vote:
During the COVID pandemic, Donald Trump botched the government’s response, shutting down too late, and opening back up too early. To his credit, he did launch Operation Warp Speed, which got us a vaccine in under a year, but then discouraged people from taking the COVID vaccine, while endorsing unauthorized and potentially dangerous alternative remedies like hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin.
Donald Trump lied to us about COVID. He knew the virus was airborne, yet downplayed the seriousness of the virus. His lies and policies objectively led to over 400,000 American deaths on his watch. And while hospitals were struggling to find adequate testing machines, he personally sent a COVID testing machine to Vladimir Putin for his own personal use.
Trump BETRAYED the American people.
If you want to talk about the economy and inflation, let’s go. Inflation is currently 2.4% year-over-year, close to where it was than when Trump left office. Yes, food and gas prices are high. But the fact is, corporations are price gouging and raising prices not because they have to, but because they can. In fact, a study found that more than half of the inflation seen in 2023 was a direct result of “Greedflation.”
But when Kamala Harris offers a solution, Republicans scream, “THAT’S SOCIALISM!”
Come on, man!
We are no closer to socialism in this country than we were in 1960. In fact, we’re much closer to fascism, as outlined in Donald Trump‘s Project 2025. Take a look, it’s a frightening read.
If you can provide me a rational reason why you plan to vote for a(n):
4. Someone who admires Hitler and espouses fascism
5. Candidate whose economic policies, according to leading economists, will tank the economy.
And I could go on and on about Trump’s well- documented and overtly racist behavior.
“The Atlantic magazine reported that Trump, when he was president, complained about the cost of paying for Guillén’s funeral as he had promised her family he would do in a meeting at the White House in July 2020. Citing two unnamed sources who attended a December 2020 meeting and notes from the meeting, when he was told the $60,000 price tag, Trump responded, ‘It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a f---ing Mexican!’ He told his chief of staff at the time, Mark Meadows, not to pay for it, the magazine reported.”
If you or anyone can give me a rational and cogent reason why you would still vote for a man like the one I just outlined, then go ahead and vote for Trump.
But in my opinion, if this were a test (and maybe it is), there would only be one correct answer.
